Lesson Approach
Every student is different and has desires and dreams in there own unique way.
Some people want to learn how to play like something they heard on the radio and others just want to learn to play something.
Because the guitar is a fun instrument, I've learned a lot of different styles of guitar and feel quite comfortable teaching them, however, a student will need a good start to playing guitar.
As a teacher, my desire is to get a good foundation on music, which will last a lifetime. Every scale, chord, and exercise I teach is important. I also incorporate songwriting, and listening to music as a part of my curriculum. You'll learn to play songs and get used to hearing songs and play them by ear. Scales and chord knowledge will help you to do this.
I have a vast amount of songs and have the use of the internet to help learn music. I also have the ability to slow down a piece of music and listen more closely to the solo or riff without changing the pitch.
Styles of music I like to teach
Pop music such as John Mayer, Cold Play, James Taylor and that list could go on and on.
Jazz Standards, they are fun to jam with and learn the melodies.
Fingerstyle Guitar is a more advanced approach to playing guitar.
I wouldn't consider myself a metal-head, however I do teach all of the elements that apply to the style.
Here's some videos of me teaching some popular songs
